In all our production processes we take into account our environmental footprint, and right from the start our proposals always start with more ecological solutions. Various recyclable solutions of raw materials and processes are delivered to our customers in order to obtain a 100% ecological end product.

Afortex’s most recent update was to join the Seaqual initiative, in which we managed to obtain high quality raw materials while keeping our planet cleaner.
At the moment, we have a project to completely refurbish our infrastructures that will increase energy efficiency by 40% of the current value.

All new investments always have the power of sustainability, as is our sewing machines, which since 2016 have only been purchased with low energy consumption.

Our textile waste is taken by a partner to later be recycled for a new life. At the moment we own 15% of our plug-in vehicles, however as soon as it becomes viable our objective will be the total transition to 100% electric.

During the year, several meetings are held with our employees in order to strengthen ties and increase cooperation and mutual help. We have made an effort to improve the well-being of our employees and the communities that host us.

Encouraging fair work practices and safe working conditions is part of our obligations.
We establish links with local communities, in various areas such as education, culture, sport and support for social causes.

Over the years we have been supporting several places in our area such as the restoration of Stª Luzia, a space located for families to socialize, we have also contributed to the new restoration of the local sports venue.

As our location is in the countryside, we take the initiative to preserve the environment in which we are located, maintaining a good and strong relationship with the municipality of Barcelos.

We recognize that our suppliers have an important role achieving good results in terms of sustainability, so we have an large network of suppliers around the world designing totally sustainable and innovative solutions. They are a fundamental pillar for the creation of 100% ecological articles.

Currently, all our suppliers have sustainable solutions from raw to recycled items, even in the area of thermo-glued products, which is complex to create sustainable products, we have already achieved products with a large percentage of recycled content, thanks to our stakeholders.

In the “coating” component, fluorocarbon free is one of our solutions for waterproof articles, keeping sustainability assured.
